Allure on Currumbin

“Stressed spelt backwards is, Desserts”. I was taken to this lovely french place just for the oh-so-amazing Croquembouche! The picture from Allure’s website was ‘the’ image that attracted our attention. An elaborate, intricate work of art that looked way too pretty to disfigure. As always, we had to stick to our food fiendish nature and think about dessert even before we had dinner on that day. As we celebrated a special occasion, this was pre-ordered. Yay for brownie points and research well done! We started with dessert and the sweet treat ended up as dinner. Dessertholics are truly one-of-a-kind.

What we ordered:

  1. Croquembouche (Pre-ordered)

Heaven on a plate! That’s all I could think of. This came lit with a sparkler and definitely caught the attention of fellow diners. As it was set right in front of me, I guess I had a good photographer around to capture the grin and the croquembouche!

The croquembouche was a profiterole castle that came with pomegranate, kiwi fruit, almonds, lots of chocolate and separated by layers of fine golden caramelised brittle. It was a sweet treat for a special occasion and the ambience didn’t disappoint. I’d put it down as a place for a romantic evening or even a special treat with your nearest and dearest (i.e friends/family).

The fruit was fresh and paired perfectly with the profiteroles. The only minor change that could have been made, was if the profiteroles were slightly at room temperature or not as chilled as they were served.

We skipped dinner as this was just too filling and extremely sweet.  The mains on the menu seemed over-priced for the portions – based purely by sight.  Give it a hit if you’re keen on a memorable experience. I thrived off the sugar rush for quite some time after having this!

## Don’t forget to call in ahead if you’re keen on the croquembouche as they require advance bookings if yours has to be custom-made for 2 or a bigger group. The standard croque is meant to serve 4 but it is HUGE, so bring an appetite along.
